Can I book my plane flight before my visa is approved to take advantage of good travel deals?

It is strongly advised NOT to book any flights until your visa is approved. The Department of Immigration will complete their assessment of you application to their time frames. You will be putting yourself under a great deal of stress to purchase your tickets before your visa is approved.

What is meant by an Australian permanent visa?

A permanent visa will allow you to live in Australia for however long you desire.

Can I travel outside of Australia as a permanent resident?

Yes, on your permanent visa you will be granted 5 years travel permission. This will allow you to travel outside of Australia for the next 5 years as you choose.

After this five year period, to be eligible to obtain another 5 year travel permission, you would have to have lived in Australia for a minimum of 2 years during the previous 5 year period.
