What is meant by an ‘aged’ parent visa?

An aged parent is a person who is of pension age in Australia.

A male applicant will be considered to meet the requirement when they turn 65 years of age. Where as, there is a sliding scale for female applicants between the age of 60 and 65 years of age.

Do both applicants have to be pension age to apply for an Aged Parent visa?

No, only the main applicant has to meet this requirement.

What is meant by a ‘contributory’ parent visa?

When you apply for a contributory parent or aged contributory parent visa, you will be required to make a payment to the Australian Health system. This fee is not optional or refundable.

What is the balance of family test?

This test is based on you and your partner’s children from your current or previous relationships.

This test requires y and your partner to have equal to or more children living in Australia as permanent residents or Australian citizens, as opposed to the number of children you have living outside of Australia.
